Hello, right now I am travelling Europe to compete at ECA Cups in Canoe Slalom. This means I am paddling a lot of new rivers, natural and man-made. This means I am learning a lot of new skills which I can take back with me to the UK.
This made me realise that this very important to me as an athlete. However, this will apply to everyone that takes part in a sport or just does regular exercise. Every time I paddle on a new river, I learn something new. I usually just paddle on a course in Nottingham, which is great but I keep repeating the same things. Now let me tell you why you should start travelling and not getting stuck in the same place, with the same people.
Let’s say that you work a 9-5 job in London. Everyday you wake up, go to work, then come home to relax. If you have to do that 5 days a week from 9-5, it’s extremely repetitive and gets boring fast. If that is you, STOP now! Go and travel for a week. You will meet a lot of different people, and learn something new from everyone.
Look at this picture. This represents you meeting the same people everyday. You don’t learn about different things. However, the picture below represents something you should be doing. Endlessly meeting new people and seeing new things. This is how you will learn about different people and their cultures.
I hope this will help you! Stop the repetition and start discovering!
