How competitive is too competitive?

This article is based off my second daily vlog (which you can find on YouTube) where I talk a little bit about how important it is to be competitive and more. So if you prefer to read instead of watch videos, this article is for you.

If you know me in person you will know that I am the most competitive person ever. I even compete at the checkout when doing grocery shopping with my brother to see who can pack everything in the bags fastest.

I actually belive that competition is what makes the world go round. Imagine if you had no competition in life. I’m not even talking about sport now. If you think about it, you have competition everywhere. In most aspects of your life.

To give you an idea, I am on a training squad called the ENTS. Most of the squad’s training happens in Nottingham. However, I live an hour away. Problem.

This means that most of my training happens on the canal and in the local gym. Both of which I do on my own.

  1. On the canal I imagine my competitors chasing me down. In the gym I imagine that they lift more weight than me.
  2. This is also imagination but I imagine that I am my own competition. And I am always chasing the Kurts that I want to be.

Both of these methods are very effective for me and I pick one depending on the situation.

I have told many people that I will always run faster when somebody is running beside me. And I guess that I am not the only one.

And both of the methods above work very well for me. So if you ever have trouble getting out of bed just imagine that your competition is already training.
