It’s been a while since my last blog post but I’m doing my best. I’m currently on a super intense training camp in Krakow so I thought I could give some advice and tips from my short time training on the course.
These are the two most important things to remember when paddling on Krakow White Water Course I would say:
1. Keep Speed On The Boat/Paddle Smooth –
Keeping speed on the boat is important everywhere and anywhere but it’s even more important on courses where they will put in ups and down in big eddies. And most eddies here won’t give you that kick out. That is why rather than paddling super straight lines and going from gate to gate it’s important to think about the line which will keep the most speed on the boat.
2. Get Back In The Flow As Soon As Possible –
I know that this is another “general” rule of canoe slalom but also one you should always have at the front of your head while training and racing on Krakow course. You really want to spend as little time as you can in the eddies as they again won’t kick you out. The eddies here will try to slow you boat speed down. But don’t let them by picking lines where you will spend as much time in the flow as possible.
Thank you very much for reading and I hope these tips help you when you race or train on Krakow White Water Course. And again I haven’t had much time on the course, these are just my observations so go easy on me hahaha!
